Ko ake mahi - What you'll do Lead priority work in mental health, addiction and suicide prevention, with a primary focus on preventing and minimising gambling harm. Wellington based role where you can flex your strategic and technical leadership, as well as policy, data, and financial skills, in a rewarding area of work. Salary midpoint of $151,476, actual salary dependent on your experience. Lead work to develop the new strategy to prevent and minimise gambling harm, including using your financial and technical policy analysis skillset to finalise the associated service plan. Undertake calculations to set levy rates relating to the problem gambling levy on the gambling industry. Support implementation of the strategy, including establishing the Ministry's related monitoring function. Lead a range of core policy work such as preparing briefings for Ministers and Cabinet papers, project management, engaging with stakeholders, and preparing for announcements. Be part of a collaborative team, working with colleagues across the Ministry and other agencies. Gambling harm is a significant policy issue in New Zealand, with one in five people experiencing harm in their lifetime due to their own or someone else's gambling. This is an opportunity to sink your teeth into some crunchy technical work that will influence the health and economic impacts of gambling harm for years to come.
