We are looking for an experienced Internal Auditor who is keen to play a pivotal role in the delivery of a comprehensive audit and continuous improvement programme at Bay of Plenty Regional Council – Toi Moana.
Te ahuatunga a te turanga | About the role This is a unique opportunity to deliver our comprehensive risk-based internal audit programme and to help set the direction for internal audit to ensure it best supports Council into the future.
You will work within the Risk & Assurance Manager to undertake a range of planned and responsive risk-based internal audit reviews across Council functions and activities, and to grow your existing skills and knowledge, while having direct input into and influence on continuous improvement and capability building across the organisation.
The Internal Audit Advisor works within the Risk and Assurance team to deliver a comprehensive value-add internal audit and continuous improvement programme. In this varied and interesting role, you will:
Lead and support the delivery of risk-based internal audits for us and our partners.Act as a trusted advisor to the business, through the provision of robust assurance advice and support.Lead and champion continuous improvement initiatives, methodologies, and concepts.Provide input into a variety of Council projects, alongside subject matter experts, that ultimately contribute to a thriving Bay of Plenty community.O pumanawa | Your skills and experience You will be a smart thinker who thrives on variety and is interested in all aspects of an organisation's systems and processes (financial and non-financial). You will be someone who constantly seeks to improve organisational performance and who has the ability to gain an understanding of unfamiliar concepts and systems quickly.
You will also have:
Membership of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or an equivalent accounting body.Minimum of five years, post-qualification experience.The ability to interpret complex information and to draw conclusions from it.The ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of staff, including managers.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A high level of professional and ethical conduct.Ko wai matou | Who we are Kaimaihi at the heart - We are a values-driven organisation, that really cares about our people. Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for land, air and water as well as public transport and economic development. A major focus of our work involves looking after the environment. We manage the effects of people's use of freshwater, land, air and coastal water. However, we also have a broader responsibility with others for the economic, social and cultural well-being of the regional community.
You'll be joining the Risk and Assurance team. We provide advice and support across Council on risk management, assurance, continuous improvement, and health and safety. Our strong focus is on 'working with' rather than 'dictating to' that makes us a trusted advisor who is always in demand.
