Details of the offer

Principal - Asset Management Risk and ResilienceAuckland Council has an exciting opportunity for asset management experts.
We plan to invest nearly $300 billion in infrastructure between 2024-2054 (86% of council's budget to 2034). When you add in non-infrastructure assets it gets even larger, and we want your expertise to help ensure ratepayers funds are used wisely and that we sustainably deliver the right services to the people of Auckland.
We have started a major journey of transformation to align with the ISO55000 series, starting with developing an asset management policy and committee. We're now setting up an Asset Management Centre of Excellence to drive high performance across the organisation and set us on a path to being the best performing local government in Australasia.
Seven new roles have been created in the Asset Management Centre of Excellence, a manager and six principal level roles. These individuals will be expected to work collaboratively across Auckland Council to continuously improve our broader asset management system. You will provide a hub of expertise linking policy to practice.
As Principal - Asset Management Risk & Resilience, you will:
Develop approaches to manage the risk of our assets, to adapt to climate change, and to identify and prioritise Auckland Council's critical assets.Enable council to understand the risks its assets (including land) are exposed to, their vulnerabilities, and to mitigate these risks and vulnerabilities.Provide reporting on these to inform insurance and investment decisions. You are an expert in asset management with extensive experience focusing on risk in an asset management context.
We will value your excellent communications skills, including your ability to explain your ideas to non-technical audiences, your enthusiasm for collaborating widely, and your ability to develop a strong network of contacts across multiple organisations. The ability to translate information between asset owners, climate change specialists and risk specialists will be essential.
You have strong skills in assessing risk, criticality and interdependency, and have expertise in climate adaptation and adaptive planning.
You have a passion for building a more resilient Auckland, a region that is prepared for a changing climate and is financially and environmentally sustainable today and for future generations.
With a strategic approach to problem solving, you have the natural ability to simplify big and complicated issues.
Local Government experience is an advantage but not essential.
Auckland Council is the largest territorial authority in Australasia providing essential services and facilities to more than 1.6 million people. You'll be joining a team of dedicated and respected experts who work collaboratively towards creating a sustainable and resilient Auckland.
In addition to our employee benefits, we work flexibly and provide opportunities for professional development.
Apply now - together we can create an Auckland we can all be proud of. See the position description for more information. Contact Shar Mahon on 027-769-1880 or ****** for a confidential chat.
Applications close on Wednesday 18 September 2024 This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
