Principal Advisor, Monitoring and Assurance - Public Health Strategy and Engagement at Ministry of Health, WellingtonSupport the PHA's critical monitoring and assurance functionWellington based preferred but flexible for the right candidateSalary midpoint of $140,938, actual salary dependent on your experienceAt Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.The Monitoring and Assurance team is responsible for Crown entity and system monitoring and supporting the stewardship role of the Public Health Agency (PHA). The Monitoring and Assurance team works across the PHA and the wider health system to monitor, support and improve performance in public health.As the Principal Advisor, you will provide leadership, data and performance analysis, and high-level strategic advice to support the PHA's critical monitoring and assurance function, which includes building and maintaining effective relationships across public health functions within health entities, as guided by the Public Health Monitoring and Assurance Framework. You will support Crown entities, the PHA and the Minister to hold a shared understanding of Crown entity performance and assure that public health objectives are trending in the right direction.Ko ake mahi - What you'll doBuild and nurture relationships with Crown entities, creating a two-way dialogue on performance improvementSupport, at a senior level, the development, planning and implementation of system monitoring and assurance across strategic and emerging public health priorities, aligned to the Ministry's system performance and Crown entity monitoring frameworks.Provide analysis of Crown entity and wider system performance, providing advice on the various impacts of qualitative and quantitative performance outcomes and using data and evidence-led approaches to evaluate performancePlay a critical role in developing and maintaining the Ministry's monitoring and assurance capability by mentoring and supervising less experienced staff through the monitoring framework, ensuring we build the necessary 'mindsets' to deliver on the PHA's monitoring and assurance stewardship role.Strong relationship management skills and experience in engaging with a range of sector groups and agencies in a positive and supportive mannerProven thought leadership and senior performance and monitoring/evaluation/audit expertiseAn understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and Maori-Crown RelationsCommitment to improving equity of health outcomes through monitoring and data analysis, demonstrating a clear knowledge of data analysis principlesKo matou me to matou whare - What we bringUnlock your career potential at Manatu Hauora, where you'll discover a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
