Full time This role will lead B+LNZ's involvement in central and regional government freshwater and other environmental policy processes.
It will deliver advanced strategic advice on emerging RMA or other environment issues aimed at favorably influencing outcomes for our levy payers.
It will work principally with the environment policy team in B+LNZ but also closely with the insights, economics and communications teams.
It will provide leadership, professional and authoritative advice, research, innovation, submissions and advocacy for B+LNZ particularly in the resource management field.
The role will also provide mentoring, technical advice and support to B+LNZ Environment Policy Analysts on the RMA and regional planning processes.
If the successful candidate has legal experience, then they would be expected to provide relevant legal advice, interpret legislation and lead relevant RMA cases.
What we ask of you Degree in relevant legal, agricultural or environmental field.
10+ years proven experience in agricultural policy, resource management policy and/or resource management law.
Specialized knowledge and experience of national and regional resource management policy development.
Advanced written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and precisely to a range of different audiences.
Advanced knowledge of policy processes, at national and local government level.
Advanced understanding of environmental policy issues and processes, in particular for the Resource Management Act.
An understanding of the New Zealand rural economy and agriculture's contribution to NZ.
A Strategic thinker.
It would be an advantage to have an advanced proven ability to interpret legislation, provide legal advice and lead RMA cases.
