This Principal Advisor will have a focus on providing technical leadership and mentoring in relation to the department's response to Phase 2 of the Royal Commission. In this small team, the Principal Advisor will take the lead in proactively identifying information and providing advice on related COVID-19 material, including developing responses to requests for information from the Royal Commission.
The Principal Advisor is also responsible for supporting engagement with stakeholders, providing advice, and ensuring that emerging or potential risks to the effectiveness of DPMC's response are identified in a timely manner and reported for early DPMC management consideration. The role also provides thought leadership on relevant matters to the COVID-19 Inquiry team and feedback and direction within the team.
The role would suit someone with previous experience managing and advising on inquiries, who can demonstrate the following capabilities:

Remuneration is in the range of $144,291 - $160,000 p/a including KiwiSaver contributions and will be appropriate to the skills and experience of the preferred candidate.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of advanced political acumen, resilience, and the ability to read the room, adapt to stakeholder needs, and navigate complex political landscapes with ease. They will be comfortable with ambiguity, remaining positive and adaptable while driving clarity and results.
