Prebbleton Veterinary Hospital is looking for an equine veterinarian with a passion for equine medicine to join our team.
Our clinic is proudly privately owned, and you would be joining two experienced equine colleagues with a third to return in a year; a specialist equine surgeon visits monthly.
Our clientele is varied - racing, sport and pleasure horses, 90% within 25km of the clinic. We have a high concentration of both Standardbred and Thoroughbred racehorses in the region. This presents an excellent opportunity should the candidate wish to expand the role in this area of expertise.
Our veterinarians are an international collection and are all happy to have a chat about the practice and living/working in New Zealand. Our companion animal side of the practice is in the same facility, which has a dedicated team of four part-time veterinarians, veterinary nursing and administration staff. We have a wonderful friendly team clinic wide, who collaborate, and this makes us a great place to work.
We pride ourselves on being part of the local community sponsoring horse events and projects within the village.
You will be mostly working independently but have backup from your experienced colleagues and veterinary technicians. 85% of the work is ambulatory, the clinic houses hospital treatment and surgical facilities.

Ski slopes are 90 minutes away, 30 minutes to the beach or some lovely hill walks and 4-5 hours from some amazing world-class hiking and mountain biking. Christchurch, New Zealand's second largest city, has good restaurants, theatres, and excellent schools in a compact area with a growing network of cycleways. Prebbleton has a small town feel and it's just 20 minutes from the city centre.
