You will be working in pairsStart Date in schools: 17th February 2025Mission Statement: Hauora Aotearoa drives generational change by empowering rangatahi and kaiako to know where they are at and what to do to live well, learn well, and lead well!About Us: We take a bottom-up, trauma-informed approach to sharing Te Whare Tapa Wha tools with disengaged rangatahi in secondary schools. They learn how to know where they are at and what to do. (coping with change, managing emotions, and building relationships). Our kaupapa is a connection to te ao Maori, to whakapapa, to te reo rangatira...Ta Mason Durie gifted us our name and the call to action: "Live well. Learn well. Lead well!"Role Overview: We seek an enthusiastic and adaptable Pouako | Facilitator to deliver our Hauora Aotearoa programme in schools across the Wellington region. Ideal candidates must be well in themselves. They must LOVE working with rangatahi and have a dynamic approach to teaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have a background in youth work, counselling, or mentorship. This role will primarily involve working with rangatahi and touchpoints with kaiako.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate Learning: Deliver Hauora Aotearoa to 5 schools, working alongside an existing Pouako to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences for rangatahi.Promote Wellbeing: Act as a role model of hauora, demonstrating commitment to your own wellbeing and inspiring others to do the same.Adapt and Innovate: Flexibly adapt your approach when facilitating, based on the needs of the rangatahi on any given day, fostering a responsive and supportive learning environment.Build Relationships: Collaborate with the Kaitakawaenga (Schools Coordinator) to establish and maintain high-trust relationships with schools, ensuring the programme's success and continuity.Key Requirements:Passion for Rangatahi: Ability to connect with and support rangatahi, creating a safe and empowering space for their growth and wellbeing.Commitment to Hauora: Must embody and promote the hauora practices we teach, being a living example of these principles.Cultural Competency: While fluency in te reo Maori is not mandatory, a strong understanding and respect for te ao Maori and its principles is essential.Leadership and Reliability: Demonstrate leadership through consistent preparation and punctuality, upholding our standards and contributing to team success.Flexibility and Growth: Be open to learning and adapting, with the capacity to think on your feet and respond to the dynamic needs of rangatahi.Additional Requirements:Police Vetting: All Pouako must undergo Police Vetting.Transportation: Own vehicle and a full driver's license are required.Technology: Must have access to a laptop and stable wifi for online meetings and training sessions.Recruitment process:28th November: Shortlisted candidates invited for an in-person uiui9th November: Offer sent out to the successful candidate.20th January: Start dateIf you're ready to lead with passion, embrace change, and make a tangible impact on the wellbeing of rangatahi, we'd love to hear from you.
