Mo te turanga | About the role

Join our maternity team at Health New Zealand I Te Whatu Ora, Southern at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of providing a safe and positive childbearing experience to all expectant pregnant people in our region.

As the Postnatal Clinical Midwife Coordinator , you will work with the Clinical Midwife Manager (CMM) to:

Assist in the establishment and promotion of clinical midwifery professional standards in the postnatal ward

Promote excellence in clinical practice and ensure provision of high-quality midwifery care

Ensure effective day to day coordination across shifts and management within the area, working collaboratively with the CMM and the wider maternity team

Support and provide leadership for Registered Nurses and Midwives, Enrolled Nurses, Maternity/Health Care Assistants, Students.

Please note, you will need to be available for shift work for this position.

Alongside your clinical expertise, our ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator with strong leadership skills and have a high level of interpersonal skills. You will have proven clinical credibility in all aspects of midwifery care with the confidence and passion for supporting and developing our maternity team.

Some of the skills we are looking for are:

It is essential that you are a Registered Midwife and hold a current annual practicing certificate.

A collaborative team approach with excellent group facilitation skills

Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment

Confidence with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

Hold a relevant post-graduate qualification or be willing to work towards one

Utu whanui | Salary range

This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 – 30 April 2025), and falls between the step 1 ($115,164 p.a) and Step 2 ($122,660 p.a prorata) of the Designated Senior Midwifery Salary Scale – Grade 3.
