The Riddet Institute is a world-best New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence in food and nutritional sciences, providing fundamental scientific understanding and training for a new generation of science leaders.
The Institute integrates partner organisations (Massey University (host), Auckland and Otago Universities, AgResearch and Plant & Food Research) and disciplines, leading a "NZ Inc" approach to food research, and generates knowledge and capability that transforms the New Zealand food industry.We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to work on a Riddet Institute Centre of Research Excellence funded project in the field of precision fermentation and alternative proteins.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in Biotechnology, Bioprocess engineering, molecular biology, microbiology, food biotechnology or related disciplines with demonstrated expertise in fermentation/ precision fermentation of microbes (fungi, yeast, microalgae or bacteria).
Knowledge of metabolic engineering for microbial strain improvement is desirable.

This full time (37.5h p/w) position will be based in Palmerston North with appointment for a fixed term period of two years.
