We're seeking a part-time 0.7 FTE postdoctoral research position to work on a Marsden-funded research material culture in the greater Moananui.You will co-manage the project with two Primary Investigators.You will be involved in knowledge creation in the wider Moananui.Va Moana Research ClusterWe are an international research platform that engages Indigenous Pacific and Western thought to study Moananui notions of space.Based at Auckland University of Technology's School of Art and Design, but with a far-reaching network of international scholars, our research transforms ways of thinking about contemporary and customary Pacific understandings of the world by examining Indigenous Moana modes of producing space, objects, rituals, and performance. We develop new research in this area and promote discussion and publications from Pacific perspectives. The Role and ResponsibilitiesThe role will consist of 70% direct administration on behalf of the research team and 30% of your own research contribution to the project. This contribution will be agreed upon at the outset of the project and include the following:Maintain an overall view of the research;Do archival and fieldwork in Aotearoa and the Pacific;Co-author a paper as part of the research outputs;Organise and manage team workshops: being point of contact, arranging agenda, taking notes, arranging room bookings and hospitality;Coordinate research processes and team meetings, communications, archiving, publishing process, oversee schedule;Set up and maintain archives on Sharepoint;Organise travel and make appointments on-site;Monitor research spending.Skills and ExperienceA PhD awarded within the last 5 years or have your PhD currently under examination in one of the following disciplines: architecture, spatial design, or visual artsYou will be expected to have a good level of reading in one or more Pacific languages;Have an excellent track record of working in museum collections and archives;Have an excellent track record of video and audio record and editing;A proven ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts (both orally and in writing) to a wide variety of groups, including expertise and non-expert audiences;Ability and willingness to undertake collaborative research;Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;Demonstrate an understanding of multicultural issues and display a commitment to The Treaty of Waitangi;Computer literacy, including intermediate level of skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;Benefit for the candidateYou will be working with and learning from a team of international experts on Pacific material culture;You will be involved in editing, writing, and producing an academic publication;You will be able to use and extend your creative and research skills in the project.If you have any questions, please contact - Professor Albert L Refiti - ******
