Policy & Research Manager (Pou Mataaho) - Digital and Community Engagement Service, Starship Child Health

The Starship Digital and Community Engagement Service has an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy and research professional to provide strategic direction and leadership for the service's policy and research capability. The service is poised to advance matauranga Maori and kaupapa Maori approaches to haumarutanga and Pae Ora, with significant opportunity for influence at a national level.
The role holder will manage a small team, growing capability over time, and contribute to a cohesive leadership team to actualise an ambitious new work programme.
Some key responsibilities include:
Provide strategic policy leadership, advice and guidance, and lead the development of the service's research capability, with a specific focus on Maori health equity, matauranga Maori, kaupapa Maori, Te Ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Lead the development and delivery of matauranga policy, research and evaluation initiatives; as well as those pertaining to other cultural knowledge systems, in particular those of Pacific Peoples.
Inform matauranga Maori development opportunities for haumarutanga and Pae Ora, and for Starship more broadly.
Important Skills:
Have had Senior Policy leadership experience in health or community sectors.
Experience commissioning research and or evaluation projects.
Relevant Tertiary Qualification, e.g. Public Policy, Public Health, research and evaluation.
Strategic leadership and change management experience.
Proficient in Te Reo Maori me ona Tikanga.
Experience developing policies that privilege Maori health equity.
