What is this role responsible for? We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Podcast Development Mentor to lead a course titled "Launch Your Own Podcast". The mentor will be responsible for guiding students through every stage of podcast creation—from brainstorming ideas to recording, editing, and promoting their shows. This role offers the opportunity to mentor aspiring podcasters, helping them launch and grow their projects successfully. These roles are part-time and hourly and can be done remotely working with students based around the world.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with a variety of students based across the world – including the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Maintaining reasonable levels of communication with students outside of formal sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Mentorship: Deliver engaging sessions on the basics of podcasting, including podcast concept development, interview skills, guest outreach, editing, promotion, and monetization.
Curriculum Delivery: Follow the established course outline while bringing your own insights and industry expertise to each topic.
Hands-On Guidance: Assist students with hands-on activities, including designing podcast artwork, practicing interviews, editing audio, and developing promotion plans.
Feedback and Support: Provide constructive feedback to students on their podcast ideas, episodes, and overall performance. Offer troubleshooting advice as needed.
Networking Skills: Teach students how to find and contact potential podcast guests using various tools and strategies.
Podcast Promotion: Guide students through the basics of social media marketing and podcast SEO.
Optional Sessions: Be available to teach optional advanced sessions on podcast editing, website development, SEO, social media marketing, monetization, and performance analysis.
Requirements:
Expertise in Podcasting: In-depth knowledge of podcast production, including content development, editing, and promotion.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical aspects of podcasting and engage students in meaningful discussions.
Interview and Networking Skills: Experience with interviewing and guest outreach for podcasts or media-related projects.
Editing and Production: Familiarity with podcast editing software, sound effects, and audio optimization.
Social Media Knowledge: Understanding of how to promote podcasts using various social media platforms.
Troubleshooting Capabilities: Ability to help students with common challenges such as guest scheduling issues, editing difficulties, or low listener engagement.
Qualifications:
Podcasting Experience: Previous experience hosting or producing a podcast, ideally with multiple episodes or seasons.
Teaching or Mentorship Experience: Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or leading workshops, especially in creative media or tech-related fields, is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in podcast editing software and a strong understanding of audio production.
Marketing Knowledge: Experience in podcast promotion through social media, SEO, and content marketing.
Availability: Flexibility to teach 5 core sessions, with the potential for additional sessions.
Desired Qualifications:
Industry Connections: Familiarity with networks or influencers in the podcasting space to help students learn real-world guest outreach strategies.
Website and SEO Expertise: Experience building or managing podcast websites and implementing SEO strategies to grow an audience.
Monetization Strategies: Knowledge of podcast monetization through sponsorships, listener support, or merchandise.
