Playgroup Coordinator - Christchurch

Details of the offer

Here at Whanau Awhina Plunket, we're lucky to have a chance to meet with the majority of Aotearoa in their first 5 years. We're seeking the support of a permanent part-time Playgroup Coordinator to facilitate our Christchurch Toes and Giggles playgroup starting late January 2025.
This position is for 10 hours per week, during school term time only. Our Christchurch playgroup shifts are Monday 9am – 12:30pm, Tuesday 9am – 12:30pm, and Thursday 9am – 12pm. This allows plenty of time for setup, pack down, and administration.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are passionate about creating an engaging environment for tamariki and a relaxed atmosphere for caregivers to build positive connections.
Our Toes and Giggles playgroup is an active music and movement session for babies and toddlers, which is an integral part of bringing communities together in an affordable and accessible manner. During these sessions, we provide the opportunity for caregivers to connect and young minds to grow and explore through music and movement.
Our Playgroup coordinators set up and present sessions, and meet and greet parents and attendees to foster relationships. This role also manages the administration portion of the playgroup including term planning, health and safety, and the inventory of equipment and supplies.
As the heart of the group, you'll be confident in fostering new relationships with new whanau and tamariki from a broad range of backgrounds and confident communicating the playgroup rules and processes. You'll have a love of music and dance, and your relationship-building skills will extend to enabling others to form relationships and build a community feel.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in setting up and facilitating group play or music sessions. This could be through early education or through prior personal experience in childcare.
Tamariki are often unpredictable, so you will be able to change tact and ensure that the sessions are enjoyable, safe, and a positive experience for all.
