Do you want to make a difference to Opotiki and its communities?We are looking for a Planner - Spaces and Places to join our Strategy and Development Group, reporting to the Strategy and Policy Manager.This position is for a fixed term of two years and will play a key role in creating and implementing a long-term strategy for the public urban places and recreational spaces across the Opotiki district, always with the focus of creating a strong future for our community.In this role, you will enjoy creating and maintaining relationships with key external community groups and stakeholders, including hapu and iwi, media, local and regional councils, and central government.
Public engagement will be important, and you will ensure that all groups in the community are able to contribute to the places and spaces of the district.Success in this role will see our public spaces revitalised and meeting the social, business and recreational needs of our communities.About youYou will have strong communication skills, and the ability to relate well to various groups and stakeholders.
You will be able to demonstrate skills in presenting to groups, report writing, interacting with the public, and project management.
You will be pro-active in building relationships with external customers and be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.You will have:A relevant tertiary qualificationA minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience in a related fieldHigh level of computer literacy using Microsoft OfficeDemonstrated ability to work alongside a range of community groups and key stakeholders.An understanding of project management and public engagement.A current driver's licence.About the districtOpotiki district has a relatively small population but it is huge in size, opportunity and culture: it also boasts one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country.
