About Nelson City Council

With dynamic growth in regional development activity and internal development and promotion, we now require an intermediate level Planner within Resource Consents.

About this role | Ko tenei turanga mahi
Reporting to an inspiring and highly experienced Team Leader Resource Consents, you will use your knowledge to assist with the processing of a wide range of consents (regional and/or district), working as part of a passionate, inclusive, supportive and dedicated Resource Consents team. The work covers a wide variety of diverse consents, including:

Waterfront and inner city apartments

Comprehensive housing development

Water permits, air and coastal discharges with a significant and complex science component

Hillside earthworks and subdivisions

Conventional resource consents and other RMA application types

About you | Ko nga pumanawa ou
You are a Planner who has some working experience in processing resource consents to a good standard, knowledge of the RMA and associated legislation. You may bring some understanding of the consent hearing processes and procedures, along with an inquisitive nature to get involved and a desire to build up the knowledge to round out your professional experience. Essential qualities include:

Solid interpersonal communication skills, particularly good report writing skills, along with stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills

Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities

A relevant tertiary qualification; a relevant professional membership for continued professional development would be advantageous
