This is a permanent, full-time role which can be based in either Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.

Te Papa Atawhai Department of Conservation has an awesome opportunity for you to bring your A-game to this integral role.

We are looking for a Personal Assistant to provide key support to the Director Monitoring and Insights, as well as provide general support to the wider Monitoring and Insights Unit distributed across New Zealand.

In this fun and varied role, you will have great insight into the world of science in the Government sector. You will make strong connections right across the organisation, with plenty of opportunity for exposure and growth within the technical, strategic, and project space.

The position will be focused on:

Managing the calendar and arranging meetings

Managing incoming emails and typing requests

Workflow management

Coordinating travel plans and bookings

Provide logistical support for the operations teams

Assisting staff with IT and systems issues

Helping Managers complete any Payroll and HR paperwork for their staff, and be involved in recruitment logistics

Be a connection between the Unit and other parts of the Department, i.e. Payroll, Government Services, Facilities etc.

Skills and experience
We are looking for a Personal Assistant extraordinaire with 5+ years of experience.

You will be experienced in supporting a leadership role and management of a large team.

If you have the following skills and experience, we are keen to hear from you:

Experience in diary and email management, and logistical coordination

Efficiency in Microsoft Programmes i.e. Outlook, Word, Powerpoint

Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive work

Ability to prioritise and to work under pressure

Confidence to learn new technical systems quickly

Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

Interest in conservation

Experience in supporting a distributed team

About the team
The Biodiversity, Heritage & Visitors Group is responsible for translating strategy and policy into action for our operational branches which deliver biodiversity, heritage and visitor and Treaty partnership outcomes.

This is the home for our technical expertise and science. This role reports into Monitoring and Insights Unit who are passionate about their mahi.

Geographically distributed across the country, connection is highly valued to this team.

The salary range for this position is $68,535 to $86,423 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory; this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
