This Performance Engineer role is part of a team that carries out both internal consulting activities and performance testing, as well as training engineering teams to progressively take ownership of performance concerns.Assist in the implementation and execution of Vista's Performance Engineering strategy, including development and maintenance of the testing platform and test assets across Vista's SDLC and SaaS environments.About the rolePerformance Testing: Build and maintain Vista's performance testing platform, including processes, tools, and scripting framework. Manage Vista's performance testing environments, both on-premise and Cloud. Work alongside engineering teams to design and implement their load tests appropriate for purpose across the various Vista products. Deep investigations of performance results, reporting findings back to key stakeholders as required. Provide training and guidance to engineering teams to help them take ownership of their own performance testing assets and testing functions. Ensure Quality of Vista releases through assessing performance risks of planned work and reviews of load test results. Represent Performance Engineering as a SME in engineering teams. Performance Troubleshooting: Provide performance troubleshooting and issue resolution services to both Services and Engineering teams as required, including customer engagement as necessary. Provide pro-active performance appraisal and best practice guidance for both customer and Vista managed implementations of our software products. Services Consulting: Advise the Services Teams on the creation and use of tools and technology used to diagnose customer system and database issues. Consult with the Knowledge Services team (as appropriate) to create required documentation. About VistaVista is a world-leading company that makes software for the cinema industry. We continue to innovate and build our reputation as one of the best Kiwi tech companies to work for.About you: Confidence to develop tools using some, or all, of React, Python, Powershell, and other languages as needed. Experience with troubleshooting complex technical issues. Sound knowledge of Load Testing techniques. Sound knowledge of performance testing and monitoring tools such as JMeter, Prometheus, Datadog, etc. Knowledge and experience across multiple architectural areas, including client and server applications, databases, network technologies, and cloud. Ability to understand and process complex data sets, interpret metrics, and derive conclusions. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and concisely to a variety of stakeholders, both verbally and via formal reporting. Enthusiasm for solving problems and figuring out 'how things work.' A critical thinker, able to balance skepticism and confidence, based on the strength of evidence. Down-to-earth, pragmatic approach; ability to balance aspirational goals and direction with real-world constraints and business reality. Experience working in a SaaS company is beneficial. Relevant tertiary qualification (computer science, applied maths/statistics, or similar) or equivalent experience.
