Waitaki District stretches from the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean, crossing Otago and Canterbury. As Australasia's only UNESCO Geopark, the District boasts spectacular and unique landscapes, and it celebrates small-town friendliness, boutique beer and wine, award-winning restaurants, crafts and leisure/lifestyle activities (including a world-class cycle trail). The hub of the District is Oamaru – well known for its pristine Victorian heritage district.
Waitaki District Council is a progressive council that is leading the way in how councils can serve communities more effectively and efficiently. As part of the Council's transformation, it will be delivering in a more customer focussed and integrated way, with an emphasis on place, and a concentration on ensuring delivery of improved value for residents and ratepayers.
Reporting to the Director – Strategy, Performance and Design, the Performance & Continuous Improvement Lead is a tier-three management role responsible for a Business Intelligence Specialist, Continuous Improvement Officer and a Business Analyst. The Lead will: translate strategy into action and lead continuous improvement activities, setting the direction and requirements for Council's business intelligence and analytical functions and promoting and enabling others to utilise analytics to support good decision-making; and
oversee the organisational performance management framework by managing data acquisition, such as the resident satisfaction survey and performance reporting
This is a great opportunity for a performance and improvement specialist or team leader. You will enjoy leading staff and work collaboratively across the whole organisation, and you will be focusing on continuous improvement and how an organisation can shift to further improve culture and be more effective and efficient. An understanding of te ao Maori and key principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi will be important, whilst an understanding of the Local Government sector would be an advantage.
This role is an excellent way for you to contribute to an organisational transformation that will lead to better outcomes for this District and its communities.
