About the City Mission The Christchurch City Mission, Te Whare Mihana Ki Otautahi, is a social services agency offering support for those who need it, regardless of their circumstances.
We offer assistance to those who are marginalised through social and economic factors and who are at risk through unemployment, inadequate housing, family breakdown, addiction, financial difficulties or mismanagement, abuse or other difficulty.

In this key role, reporting directly to the People and Capability Manager, you'll be a driving force behind our people-focused initiatives, helping to shape a positive workplace culture while ensuring smooth and efficient HR operations.

This is an office-based position of 25 to 35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities: Support various HR functions including recruitment, employment relations and performance managementAssist with onboarding and induction processes, ensuring new team members have a positive experienceBe the first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and entitlementsMaintain employee records and ensure compliance with New Zealand employment legislation, including the Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act.Be the HRIS champion and support users to access the technology effectively.Co-ordinate employment engagement activities and training initiatives.Handle general HR administration such as employment agreements and training records.
About You To succeed in this role, you will be an organised and proactive individual with a genuine passion for people and culture.
You will bring: Proven experience in a generalist HR advisory roleA solid understanding of New Zealand employment law and best practicesA strong focus on employee experience and making things easy for your internal customersStrong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretionExcellent communication skills both written and verbalConfidence in using HR information systems and MS Office suite (Word, Excel)A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work in a lean team within a community services environmentQualification in Human Resources preferredAlignment with the ethics and values of the Christchurch City Mission, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi In return, we can offer you a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment, where no two days will be the same!
