People and Culture Advisor at Te Papa, Wellington - WairarapaTe Papa stands proud as an iconic national museum housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. The People, Safety and Culture tima (team) at Te Papa works in partnership with directorates to develop initiatives and resolve issues in relation to Te Papa's people, culture, and health, safety, and wellbeing practices. Our team is made up of three groups: Organisational Development, People Advisory and Systems, and Health and Safety. Collectively, we deliver on people, safety and culture strategies supporting a leader-led philosophy and ensuring a people-centred approach.
Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Maori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways. Our vision is to be a Tiriti-based museum, where a collective commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is fostered and Maori exercise tino rangatiratanga. Te Papa's three values Whanaungatanga (Teamwork), Manaakitanga (Respect), and Auahatanga (Creativity) are at the centre of how Te Papa works.
About the position: People & Culture Advisor This position sits within the People Advisory and Systems group of the People, Safety and Culture team.
Your mahi will span the range of people practice areas (such as policies, recruitment, performance, engagement, employment relations, industrial relations, wellness, organisational change, reporting and analysis, and organisational development programme implementation), working closely with our Senior People & Culture Advisors and Business Partners as you build your capability.
Skills, knowledge and experience To do well in this position you will have some experience in HR administration, co-ordination or advisory support and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of employment legislation. Some workforce analytics experience would be a plus.
Knowledge of Te Reo Maori, tikanga and te Tiriti o Waitangi (or a commitment to learning and integrating these into your mahi) is important at Te Papa.
Remuneration and Benefits The starting annual salary for this position is between $79,300 to $94,100. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.
