As a People Adviser you will work within the People Operations Hub, supporting Senior People Advisers, Senior People Administrators and People Administrators to provide general People & Capability advice and support to line managers across the Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa. The People Adviser develops, fosters and maintains excellent working partnerships with managers to assist them to meet their business objectives.
In addition, you would support our staff by responding to general employment related queries on a variety of matters as required. While forming part of our People Hub, you will work closely with the business in a support capacity on Employment Relationship matters alongside the Senior People Advisers within the regions.
You will be responsible for the core delivery of People & Capability Services including managing end to end processes for staff changes and providing guidance to managers on staffing processes and continuously support the improvement of our service delivery and, to ensure our leaders and workforce are empowered to help themselves wherever possible. The People Adviser acts as an escalation point for our People Administrators to deliver a high-quality customer experience in a timely manner.

Requirements

Must have demonstrated experience in providing generalist HR advice and support to managers and staff.
Comfort working with a variety of systems, platforms and technologies, and the ability to pick up new systems with ease.
Significant knowledge of employment legislation and its application.
Excellent problem-solving and written, verbal and presentation skills.
The ability to build strong, professional working relationships.
You will also need to be comfortable working in a hybrid environment. As a People Adviser, you will be expected to work at a variety of locations such as our sites, offices or from home. As travel will be required in this role a Full New Zealand Driver's Licence is a must.
Utu a-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $84,594 and the full range (85%-120%) is $71,905 - $101,513. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
