They are proudly recognised as an industry leader in sustainable and ethical labour supply, working with growers in Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Marlborough to provide a dependable team of workers.Our client is in search of an experienced and hands-on Payroll Manager to join their team on a 12-month maternity leave cover.About the role:As the Payroll Manager, you will lead a small dynamic team. This is a very hands-on role while managing and working alongside two Payroll Officers, one based in Hawke's Bay and one in Blenheim.You will manage end-to-end payroll processes, all aspects of payroll while providing advice and responding to employee queries. You will be responsible for processing weekly payroll across two regions, ensuring compliance with all returns, regulations, and legislative requirements, and ensuring best practice across the payroll function.The key areas of responsibility include: Processing end-to-end payroll for approx. 800+ staff, including the entire cycle of onboarding new employees through to termination. Weekly and monthly reporting. Completion of PAYE, KiwiSaver, and termination payments as required. Weekly customer invoicing. Maintain the accuracy of the on-site tablet-based time and attendance system (Vinea). About You:We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager who is a forward thinker, great at multi-tasking, and calm under pressure. You will have an eye for detail and bring a good understanding of all aspects of payroll, along with enjoying a role that is extremely hands-on while supporting and developing your team of two.The successful candidate will have: Strong understanding of payroll regulations and best practices. Leadership skills. Previous experience using a large payroll system in conjunction with a bespoke tablet-based time and record system preferred but not essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to take ownership and self-manage. Proficient Excel skills. Outstanding customer service skills – ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and workers across the business.
