The Role Thornhill is seeking a Payroll Manager to join their Hawke's Bay based team to cover maternity leave for 12 months.
This position is a key role in the business completing all aspects of payroll, providing advice and responding to employee queries and investigating and following up where appropriate.
The role has the primary day-to-day responsibility for the processing of weekly payroll across two regions, ensuring compliance with all returns, regulations and legislative requirements and ensuring best practice across the payroll function.
There are two payroll officers that report to this role, one in Hawkes Bay and one in Marlborough.
Responsibilities include: Processing of end-to-end payroll for approx.
800 staff, this includes the entire cycle of onboarding new employees through to termination Weekly and monthly reporting and compliance requirements and work closely with the finance function to ensure the timely and accurate recording and reconciliation of payroll accounts Ensure the timely and accurate completion of PAYE, Kiwisaver and termination payments as required Processing of weekly customer invoicing Maintain the accuracy of the on-site tablet based time & attendance system (Vinea) Deliver various ad hoc business and reporting requirements as required and ensure compliance with employment legislation.
About You You'll be a forward thinking and energetic payroll professional that has an eye for detail and a good understanding of what to look for.
You'll bring broad experience in all aspects of payroll and how you connect the function with the rest of the business.
Working closely with the finance function you will have a natural strength around numbers and translating what they mean to the business.
As a result, an ability to use advanced formulas and pivots in Excel is essential.
Previous experience using a large payroll system in conjunction with a bespoke tablet-based time & record system preferred but not essential.
You'll also have a customer service and continuous improvement mind-set where you show the ability to immerse yourself in the business and grow your relationships with stakeholders and workers across the business.
