Payroll Lead – 12 month fixed term contract Manage the payroll system (CHRIS21/iCHRIS) and lead the delivery of end-to-end payroll for WSP New Zealand ensuring accurate and timely processing of the fortnightly pay for 2,200 plus employees. Wellington location preferred, Auckland will be considered.
Ensure the service provided by the payroll team contributes to the reputation of payroll and the wider People function, as an effective, high quality and responsive function.Provide effective and accurate payroll services, efficiently and timely delivery of the pay and related activities.Support the implementation of new systems, processes and seek out continuous improvement opportunities.Generate ideas for improved service provision and payroll system development and lead the implementation of all approved enhancements.Ensure payroll is delivered on time and is compliant with legislation, policy and employment agreements.Maintain data accuracy and completeness at all times.Partake in audits, ensuring that internal and external audits uncover no process or compliance issues.Manage and lead the payroll team, ensuring appropriate processes, internal control systems, policies and standards are developed, implemented and maintained.Deliver reliable and accurate month-end interfaces.Apply in-depth knowledge of employment and payroll legislation and application against employment agreements.Ensure all IR filing requirements are met in a timely manner.Ensure ACC weekly compensation via ERA is reconciled and provide support for the wider people team.Identify and learn from errors.Document implementations in a structured approach.Develop and implement monitoring initiatives.Promptly identify and implement strategies to address service delivery issues.Ensure customers report that the service provided in response to their queries is timely, professional and leads to resolution.Provide payroll processing cover as required to cover absences or high workload.Work with our Chief Human Resources Officer and wider People team members to execute the WSP People Strategy and People Plan.About you: Preferably a minimum of 10 years' professional experience in a related discipline.Solid experience with CHRIS21/iCHRIS.Experience with ServiceNow and/or Oracle or similar is preferable.Experience in leading teams and managing workloads.Proven experience in interpreting and applying payroll-related legislation, including the Holidays Act 2003, Employment Relations Act 2000, KiwiSaver Act 2006, Minimum Wage Act, Wages Protection Act, Parental Leave Act, Employment Law and agreements, Taxation and other acts and amendments that relate to payroll.Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
