What you'll do:
As a Payroll Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing the entire payroll process. Your excellent leadership skills will be utilised to guide a team of dedicated professionals towards achieving operational excellence. You will ensure that all aspects of the payroll process are executed accurately and timely. Your keen eye for detail will aid in identifying opportunities for system improvements, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy. Furthermore, your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
Oversee the processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in calculations, deductions, and payments.
Resolve any discrepancies in payroll in a timely manner.
Lead, motivate, and support a team of payroll specialists, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Ensure all payroll activities comply with regulatory demands and internal policies.
Prepare reports for management concerning payroll, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Act as the main point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll-related queries.
Collaborate with HR and finance departments to align payroll management with overall business operations.
Identify opportunities for improving payroll processes and systems.
Implement changes that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the payroll function.
Train new team members and provide ongoing training and development for all team members in payroll procedures.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Payroll Lead position brings extensive experience in processing New Zealand payroll along with proven leadership skills. Your background includes at least 3-5 years' experience in processing weekly and fortnightly payrolls, coupled with at least 1+ years' experience leading teams or supervising people. Your proficiency in financial payroll software, combined with your excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities, will be key to your success in this role. Furthermore, your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
At least 3-5 years' experience in processing New Zealand payroll both weekly and fortnightly.
At least 1+ years' team lead experience, or equivalent supervision of people.
Experience with payroll in markets outside of New Zealand (Australia, Singapore and US) preferred.
Proven track record of financial management and leadership in a multi-national company.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Proficiency in financial payroll software.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
