Starting Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Job Description The Pastry Demi Chef de Partie is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the Pastry Kitchen. The Pastry Demi Chef is the first point of contact for Pastry Commis Chefs and Pastry Kitchen Interns and supports the Executive Pastry Chef, Pastry Sous Chef, and Pastry Chef de Partie with managing the station.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary focus is to prepare and bake breads, cakes, pastries, cookies, scones, and desserts for all F&B operations.
Follow recipes and presentation specifications, following special dietary instructions where required.
Assist in training culinary skills to junior staff.
Help in menu creation.
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard.
Clean and maintain station and overall Pastry kitchen through practicing good safety and following all sanitation and food production procedures and codes.
Assist with ordering.
Assist with the enforcement of Health & Safety protocols.
Qualifications Culinary degree in baking and/or pastry and 2 years of large-volume baking/pastry experience OR 5 years of large-volume baking/pastry experience.
Experience and proficiency in both small and large scale baking operations.
Previous experience in a leadership role in the kitchen.
Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
High standards for quality and presentation.
Self-motivated.
Able to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
