We believe we have NZ's most helpful and positive Parking team and we work hard to ensure that we continue to deserve the title.With a proven ability to communicate well with people from all walks of life and an understanding of regulation, you will be a valuable addition to the Council staff.A typical day in the Council parking officer role will be out in the community educating and advising motorists and issuing infringement notices for non-compliance with parking legislation and bylaws where necessary.This is a full-time role. 40 hours per week between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.Your focus in this role will include:To enforce parking legislation in a fair, helpful and consistent manner.To assist the Council in providing vehicle parking areas facilities that utilise the available parking space(s) within the city to its maximum advantage.To assist the Council in promotion of good public relations by responding to public enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.A high level of political acumen, diplomacy, and customer service is required in this role. You will be a uniformed officer acting as an ambassador for the City at all times while performing your duties. The role involves a lot of walking, so you will need a reasonable level of fitness.In addition, you will have:The applicant must have experience in dealing with people.Full NZ Drivers Licence is essential.Ability to interpret Statutes and Bylaws and their practical application.About usPalmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
