About the role
Discover our mussel processing division in the vibrant Marlborough Sounds, where our facility operates two shifts daily for 11 months annually. Equipped with automated half shell processing technology, we process between 14,000 and 18,500 metric tons of mussels yearly, for export as frozen half shell products.
This Full-time Permanent role is located in Havelock working Nightshift or Dayshift, 4:30pm - 2:00am or 6:15am to 3:45pm Monday to Friday . Reporting into the Packroom Supervisor , the Packer is responsible for preparing processed mussels for packaging and shipment according to company specifications to ensure customers get a consistent, quality product.
Responsibilities:
Understand the difference between meat-line and by product
Pack half shell inners, 1kg meat - bags into inners and any other mussels as required
Packaging of mussels including unloading packaging pallets
Check boxes for correct information/labels ensuring product orders are packed and moved carefully
Box meat in bulk weight and seal in box
Work at different stations, as production requires
About you:
You will be a reliable and detail-oriented individual who can work efficiently in a physically demanding environment. With strong teamwork skills, able to adapt to varying workloads, and follow food safety protocols meticulously. You should have good physical endurance, work well under pressure, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards. A positive attitude, the ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to safety are essential qualities to ensure the highest quality in our packaging process.

Must be physically fit, able to stand for long periods of time, and comfortable performing repetitive tasks
Strong attention to detail - to avoid errors in packaging and labelling
Prior knowledge or experience working in a food manufacturing environment (preferred but not required)
Able to work quickly without sacrificing quality
Must be punctual and reliable
Flexible, adaptable and can adjust to varying work intensities
