Mo to matou ropu | About the team Pacific Health Wayfinders provides strong leadership to identify and foster relationships with prospective Pacific students and their families, secondary schools and other relevant community organisations to encourage Pacific students to pursue a career in health at the University of Auckland. The team sit within the Office of the Associate Dean-Pacific, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, and works closely alongside Te Kupenga Hauora Maori (TKHM), under which the Vision 20:20 initiative sits, to ensure prospective Pacific students are well informed about health careers and study options at the University of Auckland. Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The Department is looking to recruit two integral members of the team, we need people with a good knowledge of the secondary school system who's able to connect with Pacific students to develop trust and understanding. This is a front facing role, networking and rapport building with secondary schools across the Auckland region. The main objectives of this role include the following: Support Pacific secondary school students interested in pursuing a career in health Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders Have knowledge about the New Zealand secondary school curriculum and tertiary pathways Understand and utilise Pacific protocols throughout all elements of the PHW programme Deliver key information to Pacific students, their parents and communities Contribute to the development of the PHW programme For more detailed information, please refer to the  Position Description . These are Full time (37.5hours per week), 24-month Fixed Term opportunities. Salary range is $58,300-$72,700, dependent upon qualifications , skills and experience. Qualifications He korero mou | About you We are seeking two Engagement Advisors within our Pacific Health Wayfinders department. You will come from a background that has involved working closely with students at secondary school, their families, and communities. With a sound knowledge of Pacific Protocols and etiquette, you will be able to build strong relationships with schools and be able to represent the University at all levels. Knowledge and Skills Essential: Tertiary degree Proven experience in working with Pacific students, their families and communities. An understanding of the New Zealand secondary school system. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Good organisational and planning skills. Public speaking skills to deliver presentations. Proficiency in MS Office Suite for administration and reporting. Strong cultural awareness of Pacific communities and protocols Preferred: Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline from a New Zealand university. Full, clean Driver's Licence 2 – 3 years working with Pacific secondary school students, families and communities. Tertiary education recruitment experience.
