Haumako is looking for an experienced Orchard Manager to oversee our operations and drive excellence in fruit production.
About Haumako: Haumako is a subsidiary of Tatau Tatau o Te Wairoa who have embarked on a greenfield horticultural development to increase land utilisation in Wairoa for the benefit of current and future generations.
We began with a ten-hectare apple orchard in 2021 and, after this success, we are expanding rapidly.
Our ambitious growth plans include diversifying into a range of horticultural crops to provide long-term sustainable employment opportunities in Wairoa.

Job Purpose: To deliver on strategic objectives for orchard operations, producing crops that meet market demands, achieving targeted returns.
Maintain and manage, tree health, grounds, and facilities, to ensure efficient and effective orchard operations.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Management: Advise on and implement strategic objectives to support Haumako's long-term success.
Orchard Operations: Plan and manage orchard activities to achieve production goals, including planting, pruning, and harvest logistics.
Development: Oversee development projects and manage contractor/supplier relationships.
Crop Supply: Plan and manage crop supply in conjunction with the GM & Board.
People Leadership: Lead and mentor the orchard team, ensuring high performance and compliance with health and safety standards.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with industry standards, policies, and safety regulations.
Financial Management: Monitor and manage orchard expenditure within budget, analyze performance, and ensure cost-efficiency.
Qualifications: Relevant qualification (desirable) and minimum 3 years of orchard management experience.
Proven leadership and ability to manage complex operations.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with HR, health and safety systems, and Maori agri-business (desirable).
Full and valid NZ driver's license.
Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with strong results orientation.
Excellent planning, organizing, and time management skills.
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability.
Strong passion for helping and growing the people.
