We are united by our mission to address health disparities and promote wellness across all ages and backgrounds.About the RoleThe Oral Health Therapist provides dental care to patients, which includes treating gum disease and educating people how to care for their teeth and gums. Working under the prescription of the Dentist, they provide a range of care allowed for under The Dental Act and within the scope of his/her training.The Oral Health Therapist shows a high level of professionalism, sensitivity, respect and confidentiality when dealing with colleagues and patients.They will be aware of necessary compliance and legal requirements in regard to Privacy Act, HIPC, and HPCA Act.Responsibilities IncludeClinical Services;Accurate patient medical and oral history is recorded, and the client's mouth, teeth, gums and jaws are examined for signs of disease.Raising awareness of oral health and its effect on general health.Cultural Competence;Recognise and respect cultural diversity.Recognise that culture includes, but is not restricted to age, gender, sexual orientation, occupation, socioeconomic status, ethnic or migrant experience, religion or disability.Compliance;Practices within the scope of practice set by the Dental Council of New Zealand.Complies with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, infection control, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances.Complies with current NZ legislation.Dentist is fully conversant with use of emergency equipment.Qualifications, Experience and EducationRegistered Oral Health Therapist with a valid practising certificate.Dental software and technology experience.Flexibility with working hours.How to ApplyApplications must include a CV and cover letter.
