We have over 30 years' experience operating in New Zealand Ports, handling every type of cargo moving in and out of the country. We provide Stevedoring services at all New Zealand ports and are physically located in 8, with hundreds of employees both permanent and casual across the country. SSA New Zealand is also part of the SSA Marine group with over 250 terminals and operating locations around the world.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are searching for an Operations Manager to lead the team in both Lyttelton and Timaru Ports. The ideal candidate will show excellent skillsets in operations, people leadership, customer relations, and health and safety. We are looking for someone to join us in playing an integral part in continual service improvements for these two ports and the wider SSA NZL group.You will bring the following experience and attributes to be successful in this role:Effective leadership and relationship management skillsCommercial acumen and financial literacy to understand key metrics deliveryExperience in a unionised environmentAs the Operations Manager, you will manage all contracted operations to load and discharge products and auxiliary services in a safe and efficient manner. We expect maximum efficiency in vessel/job completion will be achieved through stevedoring contract profitability and client satisfaction.If successful, you will develop and maintain client/customer and external stakeholder relations in a professional manner and in the best interest of the company. This position will be responsible for account management of existing customers while proactively seeking new business opportunities. You will need a good working knowledge of health and safety and a commitment to high safety standards. You will be responsible for managing various financial and administrative requirements of the two Ports.
