The Woods Geospatial Services team is responsible for delivering on the complex geospatial needs of clients from sectors as diverse as transport, water, energy, telecommunications, land development, residential design and heritage. We aspire to be New Zealand's leading high precision geospatial experts.
Our Geospatial Services - Pavements team are uniquely tasked with assessing the quality of the nation's pavements (roading & runways), in terms of structural testing and surface condition assessment. The team has recently been awarded a long-term contract to provide surface condition assessment services to NZTA, the national roading body in New Zealand.
Our unique capabilities
Our Geospatial Services team utilise some of the most advanced data acquisition technologies, including LiDAR laser scanning (across handheld, mobile, terrestrial and aerial platforms), photogrammetry, and ground penetrating radar (GPR), to develop high-precision survey-grade 3D geospatial models.
We specialise in extracting and delivering unique insights via our growing machine learning, data analytics and GIS toolsets. We are constantly looking to evolve our capabilities to answer the most demanding problems.
The role
We currently have an opening for a senior and experienced Operations Manager to join our Hamilton-based Pavements team.
The ideal candidate will possess a keen business acumen and a track record of successfully running an operational division. Proficiency in pavement condition and structural pavement testing techniques and technologies is critical. This should be complemented with experience in quality assurance, health and safety, IT and technical support, and fleet management.
Your skills and experience
The ideal candidate for this role will bring the following skills and experience:
Technical Leadership
One or more relevant geo-physics, civil, geo-technical, mechanical related qualifications
5+ years pavement assessment experience, with a deep understanding of pavement condition and structural pavement testing techniques and technologies.
Experience with Pavemetrics LCMS-2 laser scanning techniques and technology.
Experience with Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) techniques and technology.
Practical, hands-on experience with solving technical problems.
Experience with pavement data processing tools and techniques
IMU / INS – knowledge of use and GAMS / lever arms calibrations
Manage and maintain survey IT infrastructure.
Operational & Quality Leadership
Recognised OH&S qualification.
Manage, promote, and maintain existing H&S policies, processes, and procedures.
Conduct regular H&S reviews and risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
Ensuring the safety and suitability of vehicles and equipment in the fleet.
Manage the maintenance of vehicle and equipment fleet materials and inventory.
Experience with using vehicle tracking software and maintaining the electronic records.
Streamline operational processes related to fleet management, reporting, logistics.
Optimise workflows from data capture through to end deliverables.
Manage data collection for updating metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
Overall operational responsibility for the business site management, and general upkeep.
Overall responsibility for site security.
