This is an amazing opportunity to work in a stunning environment and really make a difference!The Otago Fish and Game Council is looking to appoint an Operations Manager to lead our Central Otago and Lakes field base and key projects across Otago.Otago Fish and Game Council is a not-for-profit agency responsible for the management of sports fish (trout and salmon) and game birds (primarily waterfowl) and their habitats, in the recreational interests of anglers and hunters. We have been doing that for over 150 years.The primary purpose of this role will be to:Coordinate the Council's monitoring programmes for sports fish, game birds and habitat in the Southern Lakes and Central Otago areas.Provide leadership to field base staff and other staff across Otago, particularly when managing key projects and deputising for the Chief Executive.Advocating for sports fish and game bird habitat through catchment groups, public meetings, media and to licence holders.Support or lead other workstreams such as compliance, asset management such as wetlands and hunter and angler liaison.The role has an enviable balance of field and office and being primarily based in Central Otago it will complement a wonderful lifestyle. Ideally, you will be someone who is:An enthusiastic angler and/or game bird hunter and/or willing to learn more about those activities.Interested in monitoring of sports fish and game birds, advocating for habitat, and are passionate about the Otago environment.An excellent communicator who is able to build and maintain relationships/partnerships with stakeholders, staff and Council Members.Has a proven track record in operational management, leading and managing staff, compliance and project management.Able to work in a highly regulated environment with a reasonable working knowledge of fish and game bird legislation and management principles.A tertiary qualification or relevant work experience, especially in project management, would be desirable.We would like to receive all applications by Monday 14th October 2024, we may shortlist and interview candidates who meet the criteria before this date.We look forward to receiving your application!
