Southern Packers is located in Washdyke, Timaru where we are the onion professionals of the world. We very carefully grade, size, peel and pack the finest onions grown right here in Canterbury by our small group of dedicated growers. At Southern Packers we use some of the most modern technology available globally today to process our onions, preparing them for export to Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan, as well as servicing the local New Zealand market.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, this position will suit an experienced Operations professional and is an excellent opportunity for someone who is driven, and ready for the opportunity to work with us to drive productivity by motivating, managing and directing operational staff while maintaining exceptional Quality and Health & Safety standards.
Our successful applicant will ideally have operational management experience in an industrial environment and be skilled at both planning and accomplishing production targets and key performance indicators. Working closely alongside the senior team in our business, this role will encompass responsibility for our Production, Logistics and Maintenance departments. Experience with forecasting, budgeting and expenditure control would be advantageous. This is a role with wide variety and the opportunity to influence success and continuous improvement across our business.
At Southern Packers, we have 20 permanent team members, and up to 80 in the team at the peak of the season. Leading, training, coaching and getting the best from our staff is a key requirement of this role.
