Timberlands Ltd is a world leading Forestry Management Company based in Rotorua, New Zealand. We are looking for an experienced Nursery Specialist to join our team.About the role:The purpose of this role is to support the company's nursery operations by leading all aspects of the bareroot crop operations to ensure that a supply of robust, healthy, high performing seedling/cuttings are supplied to the forest. This includes lifting of tree stocks, sowing seed, setting of cuttings, spraying crops, planting motherplants and various other nursery operations. Weekend work is occasionally required in this role.Key tasks within this role include:Bareroot seedlings - Bed preparation; Prep seed, sow crop; general crop management.Bareroot cuttings - Bed preparation; Chemical compliance; general crop management (post setting).Motherstock - Chemical and fertiliser application as requested.General site and equipment maintenance.Responsible for the plant irrigation systems at Te Ngae.Regular monitoring and checking of tractors when in operation to ensure job is always being carried out within required specifications.Developing procedures and training workers on how to efficiently and effectively carry out tasks.To be successful in this role you will have a certificate or diploma in agriculture/horticulture or a minimum of 5 years experience. You will have an excellent understanding of agronomy, along with experience in chemical management of pests and diseases. A comprehensive understanding of Occupational Health & Safety in the workplace, the systems and processes required to drive a positive safety culture in the workplace will be highly valued. Experience in raising pine crops and/or the ability to drive Class 2 trucks would also be advantageous in this role.This role will work across two sites initially, as we relocate our crop from Te Ngae to our newly established Rerewhaakaitu nursery.
