This role facilitates the progression of current education resources, as well as the development of future strategic growth, including future development of skill sets in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In this area, you will provide nursing leadership, clinical coaching, and act as a resource for both new and experienced staff.
You will be well supported in this role by the whole healthcare team.
About the Service Ward A8 is a busy mixed medical and surgical ward that accommodates both the Acute Stroke Unit and Vascular Surgery specialties. A8 has 24 ward beds and an additional 4 beds in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). A8 takes a holistic approach to providing a high standard of care combining surgical and medical nursing expertise. We have a wide range of complex patient presentations which includes acute and elective, medical and surgical, local and wider South Island. The Nurse Educator position encompasses a component of pastoral care to emotionally support our staff through their learning and development journey.

About you Your broad knowledge and extensive experience will place you perfectly as an educational resource for the team. This will allow you to coach and support the clinical learning of the nursing team while promoting evidence-based practice. You will be supported through close collaboration with the Nursing Director and Senior Nursing team in A8, across the wider cluster and throughout Health New Zealand. The A8 Nurse Educator role includes developing and strengthening current education resources and delivery of programs, as well as supporting individual learning plans.
Continuing the development of widespread competence in the nursing team is essential, and it requires a strategic planned approach to be successful. If you are a Registered Nurse with extensive clinical experience and a passion for quality nursing we would love to hear from you.
Skills and experience An expert nurse who either holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification.
