An exciting leadership opportunity has become available to appoint an experienced Night Shift Supervisor to lead our Christchurch Branch PM shift. Reporting directly to the Christchurch Operations Manager, this "hands on" position forms a vital part of our team, and as such is called upon to make important decisions for the company throughout the evening operation. The role is responsible for supervising the night operations of the Christchurch terminal including organising staff rosters and ensuring the efficient and safe loading and unloading of line-haul units.
The key responsibilities of the position are to:
Lead the Team - Provide visible leadership to the team to drive a culture of strong performance, health and safety excellence and to support our goal of Market Leadership.
Drive Operational Excellence - Work with the Christchurch Operations Manager to develop the operational frameworks and people capability for success within the Christchurch Branch.
Cultivate a successful team by ensuring expectations are understood, training and coaching programs are in place, and a culture of health and safety and service excellence is maintained.
Ensure a culture of health and safety excellence is continually developed and embedded into the operation.
To be successful you will ideally be able to demonstrate:
Strong hands-on experience within the New Zealand domestic transport Industry.
Strong commitment to Health and Safety.
Extensive knowledge of loading/unloading of line haul trucks.
Experience and knowledge of loading and handling Dangerous Goods Products.
Good organisation skills - meeting targets and tight timetables to enable line haul trucks to meet departure times is critical to the success of this role.
Ability to develop new processes and look at smarter ways of operating.
The ability to effectively manage and motivate a small team.
Preferably hold class 1, 2, 3 and 4 licences with OSH forklift and DG endorsements.
The ability to work afternoons/evenings from Monday to Friday (2pm to finish – normally around midnight).
