Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral are looking for a Neurologist to join our team of experienced health professionals with a focus on the delivery of high quality specialist care to the growing population across the MidCentral Region.
We actively encourage a work-life balance and appreciate flexibility, so we are open to discussing options! Whether you are looking for permanent, fixed term, or part-time positions, we welcome your inquiry for a confidential chat.
About the role and team: We want to grow the neurology service to help develop responsive ways of meeting the needs of our growing population while enriching models of care across the region.
You will join three other Neurologists in our Palmerston North service. If you are enthusiastic about service improvement and working in new ways as part of a multidisciplinary team, we want to talk to you! The job is ideal for a general neurologist who is comfortable in managing patients in acute and outpatient settings.
All neurologists will be expected to see patients in general neurology clinics, but there will be opportunities to develop subspecialty clinics, and such interests are encouraged.
Currently, the service provides an inpatient consult service, but with successful recruitment, the plan will be to develop a fully staffed inpatient neurology and stroke team.
All standard neurology services are available, including stroke thrombolysis, an active botulinum toxin clinic, a clinical neurophysiology unit providing EEG and EMG services, access to an infusion unit for disease modifying MS therapies, along with a dedicated headache clinic.
There is scope to expand these services depending on the successful applicant's areas of expertise. We work closely with neuroradiology and neurosurgery in Wellington, along with the Neurology service in Wellington as our tertiary referral center for additional care such as stroke clot retrieval.
If you are interested in a role that provides the opportunity to maintain and build on your skills, this will be a good opportunity to take your career to the next stage! The service looks to create a team of physicians with complementing skills.
