Woodford House, a leading Anglican Special Character, state-integrated, boarding and day school for Y7–13 girls, in Hawke's Bay is seeking to appoint a fixed term, Neurodiverse Learning Specialist to join our passionate and dedicated team. We nurture each girl who walks through our doors so that her light shines brighter.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced, empathetic, and proactive Neurodiverse Learning Specialist to work with a student one-to-one. This role will involve shaping and leading a holistic learning journey across academic, life skills, technology enablement, and social and communication development. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities
Being an advocate on the student's behalf to maximize their academic and personal growth
Preparing them for their transition into early adulthood
Directly supporting the student in a classroom and one-to-one situation
Planning and adapting their program for today and into the future
Support the classroom teachers to implement the student's program
Work with the student, and other students to boost learning, independence and social skills.
Liaise with the classroom teachers to ensure the best support is provided to the student.
About you
Have previous experience working in special education leadership, or a related field with experience with neurodivergent individuals.
Demonstrated ability to manage and advocate for students effectively.
Ability to think holistically and creatively to create programs for neurodivergent students
Experience or interest with using AI and tech to enhance learning opportunities
Be empathic, and caring.
Have excellent communication skills.
You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and satisfactorily pass all pre-employment checks such as Police Vetting and reference checking.
