National Youth Member Leadership Development Officer Casual Primary Location: Canterbury Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders and working to save lives since 1885. As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives. This role is open to Hato Hone St John members only. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic volunteer to oversee and enhance youth leadership development within St John Youth. Reporting to the National Youth Programme Leadership and Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving positive impact! This role can be based in any city within New Zealand. You will be expected to attend a minimum of three divisional nights each term, which can include attendance at a variety of divisions. You will be required to obtain a permanent youth leader appointment, with the portfolio role being a fixed-term arrangement. This fixed-term appointment will be for three years, with the opportunity to renew for an additional three-year term, if uncontested. Key responsibilities include: Regularly review and update Youth Leadership Development Training processes, content, and resources Ensure Youth Leadership Development Trainings are consistently delivered nationwide Lead the development and implementation of a robust youth mentoring process Manage and mentor portfolio officers, supporting youth leadership and development initiatives Contribute to workplace resilience and safety by promoting business continuity, managing risk, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships Contribute proactively to support the delivery and implementation of the Youth National Strategy Ko wai koe - About you: To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven leadership experience within the Youth Programme, with skills in managing geographically spread volunteer teams Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle complex issues effectively Knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application for St John in the community and healthcare environment will be advantageous; otherwise, a strong commitment and willingness to engage in training and education to develop in this area is essential Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude Commitment to St John Core Values, with a strong "can-do" attitude and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively A strong team player with a commitment to contribute to the business planning, delivery, and development Competency in Microsoft Office and a Level 2 First Aid certificate Previous St John Youth managerial knowledge/experience preferable Me pehea te tuku tono - How to apply Click "I'm interested" before applications close on Sunday 27/10/2024 .
