About the roleAs a Motel Shift Manager/Minder, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the smooth day-to-day operations of our motel located in the picturesque Whakatane, Bay of Plenty. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining the high standards that our guests have come to expect.What you'll be doingManaging the motel's reception and front-of-house operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and handling guest inquiries and concernsOverseeing the housekeeping team to ensure all guest rooms and public areas are clean, well-maintained, and ready for occupancyHandling cash management and balancing daily accountsMonitoring inventory and placing orders for supplies as neededAssisting with the coordination of maintenance and repair workProviding exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guestsSupervising and supporting a team of customer service and housekeeping staffEnsuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and security regulationsWhat we're looking forRelevant experience in a hospitality or customer service role, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacityStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a teamExcellent problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesProficient in cash handling and financial managementAttention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentationFlexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidaysA friendly, customer-focused attitude and a passion for providing outstanding serviceMinimum RequirementsApplicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and provide references with their application.What we offerCompetitive salary (based on 5-day shift per week)Quality onsite discounted accommodationComprehensive training and development programsA supportive and collaborative work environmentAbout usAs an iconic hospitality and accommodation provider in the heart of the city, we strive to offer our guests a true oasis—quiet, relaxed, and surrounded by the best of what the area has to offer.
