This role is part of our Crisis Resolution Service.The key responsibilities for this role include: * Rapid mental health triage: conducting initial assessments for individuals aged 18 and over, evaluating mental state, risk, and urgency to inform care planning and connections to other services.
* Coordination with mental health services: ensuring timely and effective assessment, treatment, and discharge/transfer, including handover to the relevant mental health team for existing MHAIDS service users.
* Collaboration: working with triage services, the Crisis Resolution Service, and ED staff to manage high acuity cases and Mental Health Act queries.
Provide advice and consultation on mental health issues to ED staff, including senior medical personnel.
* Protocol development: further develop and implement protocols for referrals and identify specific cases where the MH-ED RN team can assist.We are looking for an experienced and clinically skilled nurse with a keen interest in emergency mental health care and the intersection of physical and mental health.Mou - About you * Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) * A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope appropriate to place of work * Completion of an undergraduate (leading to registration) or post graduate program in mental health or intellectual disability nursing.
