Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: South West England, ChristchurchJob Type: ContractPrimary Industry: Aerospace and AviationDesigning and developing mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for aerospace and aviation applications.Conducting feasibility studies and analysing design concepts for functionality and efficiency.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure design specifications are met.Creating detailed technical drawings using CAD software.Performing stress analysis and simulations to validate designs.Participating in design reviews and making recommendations for improvements.Required Qualifications:- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace or aviation industry.- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and materials.- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace or aviation industry.Knowledge and Skills:- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Unigraphics (NX), SolidWorks).- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and materials.- Experience with stress analysis and simulation tools.- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.- Professional Engineering (PE) licence.- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.Working Conditions:- This is a contract position based in Christchurch, Dorset.- Expected to work full-time hours.- May require occasional travel for client meetings or project site visits.- Work in an office and manufacturing environment, collaborating with various teams.- Adherence to all safety regulations and company policies
