Material Supplies Supervisor - Day Shift

Details of the offer

Team Leaders/Supervisors (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)
Full time
At AW Fraser, we start with NZ scrap copper, mix it with other imported scrap metal products to produce highly valued, durable components purchased by companies across the globe. That's why we are a local manufacturing success story and why sustainability and engineering ingenuity are in our DNA.
As one of 4 Shift Supervisors leading shifts day and night in this strategically important part of our company, you will supervise 4/5 experienced operators who supply the Foundry with the metal product necessary to manufacture bronze alloys. With prior supervisory experience in manufacturing, you may not possess this knowledge yet, but you will possess the curiosity and capability to learn.
The Material Supply team is instrumental in safeguarding the quality, processing, and utilisation of raw materials so that our Foundry Operation can make superior products.
Key responsibilities: Lead and organise staff to maintain safe and efficient production practices.
Ensure those practices result in the 'packaging' of raw materials the Foundry can efficiently melt to produce high-quality bronze bar.
Implement a "right first-time" philosophy, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Understand the requirements of the Ministry for Primary Industries related to the importation of products and ensure those procedures are carried out in accordance with strict guidelines.
With ideally 3+ years previous experience in a supervisory role, you will demonstrate: Sound supervisory decision-making, including selecting and training team members to follow safe work practices and SOPs within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proven skills of inspiring and mentoring others to deliver production targets efficiently and consistently to time, cost, and quality parameters.
Prior success of fostering a safety-conscious, positive, and motivated team.
An interest in chemistry or metallurgy - an understanding of the value of scrap metal would be a distinct advantage.
Proficiency in computer use, with strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
The role is a dayshift position, working from 5am to 5pm, on a popular 4x4 shift pattern (4 days on, 4 days off) which provides real work-life balance.
If you are a motivated leader with a keen interest in materials, engineering, and all things manufacturing, click 'apply now' and Tess from AW Fraser will be in contact soon.
