Te Puni Kokiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Maori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Maori. This includes our mandate to promote Maori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.
We have an exciting Team Lead opportunity in our Strategy puni focused on people leadership and allocating workload.
Te whai wahitanga | The opportunity A core focus of the Team Lead is to provide people leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the team while supporting the Manager, Data & Insights with managing workflows and building team capability.
Programme Planning. Ensure programmes are delivered on time, and within budget. Allocate and monitor team mahi.Champion innovation and the sharing of knowledge within the team. Create an environment that fosters this.Stakeholder Relationships. Build and nurture relationships across the public service to enhance the understanding of the policy impacts on Maori.An experienced people leader, you should have extensive experience leading teams and managing complex, time critical work programmes. We are looking someone who is:
Skilled in influencing and positioning teams to influence senior leadership to put evidence at the heart of decision making.Knowledgeable with contemporary continuous quality improvement methodology.Forward thinking, agile, and adaptable. Able to anticipate the evolving nature of Maori and non-Maori world views.Comfortable working in a te ao Maori environment and situations where tikanga is observed.
