The Real Estate Authority (REA) is the independent government agency responsible for regulating New Zealand's real estate profession. Our purpose is to promote and protect the interests of consumers and promote public confidence in the performance of real estate agency work.

The Role
This role is a 12–18-month fixed term contract or a secondment, where you will be given the opportunity to expand your litigation experience and manage your own caseload of tribunal cases with the support of experienced in-house and external colleagues. You will also:
Provide legal advice and opinions to a range of stakeholders including REA staff, senior executives, Board members, and the Complaints Assessment Committee.
Manage litigation in relation to licensing and disciplinary processes and appear before the Tribunal.
Ensure that the REA's activities are compliant with the Real Estate Agents Act 2008.
About You
You will be a New Zealand-qualified lawyer with the ability to hold a New Zealand practising certificate, and with at least 3 years' PQE in a regulatory and/or litigation role within a private practice or in-house environment. You'll have a high degree of initiative, excellent interpersonal skills and will enjoy being part of a talented, collaborative team.
