Description New Forests seeks a self-motivated candidate for this newly created full-time position. Working within the Investments team focused on Australia and New Zealand, you will bring your existing transaction experience to lead the origination and execution of natural capital investments across our various mandates.

This role would suit an investment professional with 3-5 years of experience in institutional grade transactions in the agricultural, forestry or natural capital sector. Investment banking or private equity experience will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include:
Sourcing opportunities throughout the Australia and New Zealand region for our various mandates in forestry, agriculture, carbon, and related infrastructure.
Ensuring management and prioritisation of the pipeline of opportunities.
Managing transaction processes from initial review, through detailed due diligence, investment committee approval to final bid and settlement.
Liaising with agents and leading consultants and the wider internal team members to achieve capital deployment targets.
Coaching junior members of staff in investment processes.
Supporting Associate Directors in larger scale and complex transaction processes.
Leading the development of tools designed to better enable the wider team and increase team efficiency.
Leading specific investment research projects that support investment activity on behalf of clients.
Contributing to regular reports on Investment activity and transactions (e.g. quarterly reports, special client reports).
Assisting with Company Secretary, Operations, Analytics, and Investor Services Departments, as may be required from time to time.
Establishing broad and constructive relationships across New Forests.
Maintaining a proactive approach to all Investment team activities, including debates on target investments, preparation of written material, due diligence processes, and identification of new investment opportunities.
Qualifications, Experience and Strengths We are looking for candidates with:
High levels of initiative, curiosity and the ability to problem solve.
Experience in the field of forestry or agriculture (highly desirable, but not required).
Experience using AI tools to problem solve and automate tasks (desirable but not required).
Relevant undergraduate qualifications.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint and Excel (particularly financial modelling).
Strong time management and organisational skills.
Good analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects on time.
Ability to build strong relationships and work within a team environment.
Ability to think outside the box, contribute to debate, and communicate ideas and suggestions effectively.
