Library Manager - Wellsford LibraryWe are recruiting for a Library Manager to lead Wellsford Library, serving our urban community (Wellsford township) and a number of our rural communities' diverse needs. In this role, you will provide a welcoming, professional, and responsive library service, while proactively developing your team to create memorable community experiences that encourage repeat visits.
Wellsford Library is also a flagship site for He Kupenga Horopounamu, an initiative that takes a kaupapa Maori approach to evolving library practices and service design. A key priority will be championing and committing to this important programme as part of the library's future vision.
We seek an experienced, inspiring leader who can bring out the best in a diverse team, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. With a strong passion for delivering outstanding customer service, community programs, and events, you will connect your team with the strategic vision of the Community Wellbeing department and Auckland Council. As a committed partner to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you demonstrate respect for te ao Maori and te reo Maori and incorporate these values into your work.
This role involves close collaboration with Rodney North Local Board managers, including those at Warkworth and Mahurangi East libraries, as well as working with kaimahi in Community Wellbeing, Te Waka Kerewai, and other Auckland Council units. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to build strong relationships and engage effectively across a range of community settings and events, fostering connections with stakeholders both within and outside the organization.
Wellsford Library is situated in the north of Auckland city, the library being the furthest North in the region before meeting the Kaipara District. It is an attractive and well-appointed building in the spacious Wellsford War Memorial Park, close to the retail centre and State Highway one. The diverse community is actively supportive of the library and the team which is a mix of 8 full and part-time staff working over 6 days. This is a permanent opportunity working 40 hours per week. The library is open six days a week so flexibility around working hours is required as this role may include some Saturdays.
